A Dra.

The first project* is aimed at investigating the molecular basis of a mosquito maternal effect that drives differential susceptibili to Plasmodium falciparum of the mosquito offspring. Details supporting this biological feature can be found in the following preprint : https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.01.27.922070v1

This project will use diverse approaches, notably epigenetic tools (ie-ATAQ-seq) and bio-informatics as well as metabolomics and mosquito infection with P. falciparum. It will be done in collaboration with Christophe Antoniewski, head of the ARTBio bioinformatic platform (Sorbonne University) and specialist in Drosophila epigenetics.

The second project is centered on functional analysis of genes identified through a differential proteo-transcriptomic analysis of Anopheles arabiensis infected with either P. falciparum or Plasmodium vivax (publication in prep). Mosquitoes were initially infected in a field station in Madagascar. While my group has a long-standing expertise in mosquito lab infection with P. falciparum, mosquito infection with P. vivax needs to be established in the lab. To this aim, a collaborative project involving Didier Ménard and collaborators from Madagascar has been set up.

The Institut Pasteur is a great scientific and international environment with access to multiple facilities including genomics, proteomics, bio-informatics and imaging. Interactions with the Institut Pasteur International Network (IPIN or RIIP, in French) is also of additional interest when working on malaria transmission.
